I. Adjective, verb, noun can function as a noun in Chinese by adding “的”, it is called “的” phrase.

1. Conversation

A:这块手表是你的吗?
[zhè kuài shǒu biǎo shì nǐ de ma ?] Is this watch yours?

B:不是我的。是我爸爸的。
[bù shì wǒ de 。 shì wǒ bà ba de 。] No, it isn’t. It’s my father’s.

A:多少钱买的?
[duō shǎo qián mǎi de ?] How much is it?

B:三千多块。
[sān qiān duō kuài 。] More than 3,000 yuan.
